Volunteer Involvement – 2022 Undergraduate Research Symposium

Join the great energy of the symposium, as we celebrate the achievements of undergraduate scholars! Please complete the brief sign-up form no later than Friday, May 6 at 6:00 pm (PDT). 

The Undergraduate Research Symposium Planning Committee invites you to serve as a volunteer for the 12th Annual Undergraduate Research Symposium on Thursday, May 26. This year, we will host the symposium in a hybrid model, with some presenters participating in-person and some in a virtual format.   

To honor the original research and creative work of our students, the Symposium strives to frame the environment of an academic conference, and the role of the volunteer plays an integral part in this endeavor. The 2022 Symposium will host several hundred presenters, distributed across a wide variety of academic disciplines. 

Volunteers are welcome to indicate their availability to the volunteer survey link. Click here to access the Volunteer Sign-Up Form. There are numerous opportunities to be involved, such as: 

In-person 

  • Moderator- introducing each panelist, facilitating the presentation flow, and Q & A discussion. 

  • Day Of Involvement - the variety of activities include set-up, staffing the presenter check-in table, guiding attendees to locations, poster session guide, event break-down, etc. 

Virtual  

  • This year, all virtual presentations will be in Zoom webinar format, with all sessions recorded and posted to the Symposium YouTube channel after the event. The committee aims for two volunteers per Zoom presentation session. 

    • Moderator 1 - introducing each panelist, facilitating the presentation flow, and Q & A discussion. 

    • Moderator 2 - permitting attendees in from waiting room, provide sharing permissions to panelists, maintain smooth flow of session.
