Tahirih Motazedian Keynote Address

Before deciding to pursue a career in music theory, Tahirih Motazedian earned a degree in geophysics from the University of Oregon, where she made an important discovery about water on Mars. Motazedian’s public talk will describe how she was able to leverage her undergraduate research experience and passion for science and music into career opportunities that took her from UO to the Lunar and Planetary Institute, James Cameron’s production studio, NASA, and eventually Vassar College, where she is currently an Assistant Professor of Music Theory. Motazedian’s address will explore her career journey and how her undergraduate research experience directly, and indirectly, affected its arc.
