The Migrant Belongings Project explores the ways migrants and deported people both belong and experience exclusions in families, local communities, and the U.S.-Mexico borderlands. The project is interested in social and cultural aspects of being on the move and of making home, within political and legal contexts that constrain various types of movements and settlements. Students can be involved with transcription and analysis of interviews, review of secondary sources, or repatriation of migrants’ possessions that were confiscated by government agents and not returned.
