The purpose of the Soros Fellowship is to provide opportunities for continuing generations of able and accomplished New Americans to achieve leadership in their chosen fields and to partake of the American dream. The program was established in recognition of the contributions new Americans have made to American life and in gratitude for the opportunities the United States afforded the founders of the Fellowship, Paul and Daisy Soros. The fellowships are grants for up to two years of graduate study in the United States. Over the two years of the Fellowship, Fellows are required to attend the annual Fall Conference in New York City, which is fully paid for by the program. Eligibility
- New American (U.S. citizens who are the children of two immigrants; naturalized or adopted U.S. citizens; permanent resident; those with refugee or asylum status; immigrants who have graduated from both high school and college in the U.S.)
- Parent(s) must have been born outside of the U.S. as non-U.S. citizens
- Open to all academic fields
- Graduating senior or in the first two years of graduate school (not yet 31 years of age as of application deadline)
Award Highlights:
- Supports one or two years of graduate study in any field, and in any advance degree-granting program in the U.S.
- Up to $25,000 in stipend support, and up to $20,00 per year tuition support for one or two years
