Our biomedical research lab is determining the fundamental molecular mechanisms that prevent infertility, birth defects, miscarriages, and cancer. We study the genes and proteins that are required for DNA to be accurately repaired during meiosis, which is the specialized cell division that generates sperm and eggs. Students have the opportunity to participate in either independent or collaborative research projects using cutting edge techniques in genetics, genomics, CRISPR-Cas9 genetic engineering, high- and super-resolution microscopy, biochemistry, and computational biology.
